I AM WORRIED MY DAUGHTER AND HER PARTNER FROM SWEDEN ARE OUT XMAS AND NEW YEAR TRAVELLING, THEY ARE SCHEDULED TO GET THE FLIGHT FROM SYDNEY AUSTRALIA TO BANGKOK ON MONDAY 3RD OF JANUARY 2005 LOCAL DATE BUT 2ND OF JAN EUROPE DATE.
REF NR IVE NOTED IS QANTAS QF 0301 BY BRITISH AIRWAYS TIME 17.10 TO BANGKOK
THE EXPERTS ARE INFORMING US ON THE NEWS IN SWEDEN THAT "AFTER QUAKES" ARE FORCASTED WITHIN TWO TO THREE WEEKS, ONES THATC AN BE IN THE AREA, AND POSSIBILY 7.1 ON THE R.SCALE.
DOES ANYONE AT ALL KNOW IF THAT FLIGHT ME´NTIONED ABOVE TO BANGKOK FROM SYDNEY IS STILL SCHEDULED TO FLY???????????????
IT IS HOEPLESS TRYING TO GET A CONCRETE ANSWER FROM THE LOCAL TRAVEL AGENT OR QANTAS OFFICES.
My nephew is flying to Bangkok tomorrow from Australia. His father works in the airline industry and seems to be keeping an eye on things. He does not seem to be concerned about his son flying to Bangkok.
You could check the Qantas and British Airlines websites for information about changed schedules.
tack heather, nice of you to reply. dont the experts forcast after quakes,,measuring 7.1 which can be anywhere in the disaster areas?
my daughter is supposed to be in new zealand until the 2nd of jan europe date, but she wrote a email line every other day from camping sites, but she has not written since the disaster.i am praying she and her young partner did not change their schedule and go to bangkok earlier thán planned,....2nd of jan from sidney in Oz.
maybe the internet is blocked and people are using it everywhere,as well as telephone lines. im just hoping they write today. THERE WAS NO TRAVEL ARRANGER ,CHARTER,they have backpacks and are out there themselves, victoria carlsson and patrik johansson from southern sweden.,
i continue to pray for all the relatives to the missing and dead, and also that sickness doesnt break out making the siuation even more chaotic.
If your daughter was not due to leave New Zealand until January 2nd, it is very likely that she is still there. There are some very remote parts of New Zealand, and if she enjoys walking in the national parks she may not even know there has been an earthquake and a tsunami!
I do understand how worried you must be, but if she had flown to Bangkok early she would have had every opportunity to let you know that she had changed her plans. I suspect that she is in a national park somewhere in the remote south or west of the south island, and is quite safe. I don't know if you have been to new Zealand, but there are national parks where you can walk for five days and not know what is happening in the rest of the world.
Thanks for letting me know that your daughter is safe. Having done a lot of travel myself in remote parts of the world, I know that my family worries when they don't hear from me for a while.
